There are several things that you can do to help your children to transition back into the school year so that they can achieve the optimum level of success. There are different steps that you can follow based upon their educational level:
Elementary School
If you have modified their sleeping schedule at all for the summer, slowly start moving their wake up and bedtimes earlier so that when they have to get up to go to school it is not as difficult of a transition. Also, consider getting the necessary school supplies early so that your child is completely prepared their first day back to school.
Middle School
You may want to consider taking your child over to see the school before it starts to help them to become familiar, especially if they are making the transition from elementary school to middle school. Also, just as in elementary school, make sure that you have purchased the necessary supplies prior to the start of school to ease the transition.
High School
Outline school, sports and social activities in advance if possible. If college is in the future, make sure that you have identified when the SAT and PSAT dates are so that your child can adequately prepare for these important exams.
